Metrics

Metrics
Last night at work was fun. Eating right and exercising sure does make a difference. I've been making a concoction of steamed vegetables to take to work, and that is helping to make each night better than the night before.

I got stuck working on metrics for my shift last night - trying to prove to those in charge that we are being productive, while losing 4 hours of productivity learning how to make the database work.

I slept quite a bit yesterday so I didn't do much until after 6:30pm. I spent about 40 minutes on the elliptical trainer - and that is always a good way to get energized.

Today I should be receiving a "mail-order" driving course that I have to take because of a fender-bender (yes - my fault) that I was involved in last summer in Monterey. It will be good to have that whole issue behind me - what a royal pain that has been to get settled! Don't ever get into a car accident in Monterey County! You'll be dealing with the paperwork for a year!

This song is one that my sister and I listened to hundreds of times when I was growing up. The entire album, which we had on cassette, is one that we both know by heart.

Song: Sparrow - Simon and Garfunkel - Wednesday Morning 3am.

Who will love a little Sparrow?
Who's traveled far and cries for rest?
"Not I," said the Oak Tree,
"I won't share my branches with no sparrow's nest,
And my blanket of leaves won't warm her cold breast."

Who will love a little Sparrow
And who will speak a kindly word?
"Not I," said the Swan,
"The entire idea is utterly absurd,
I'd be laughed at and scorned if the other Swans heard."

Who will take pity in his heart,
And who will feed a starving sparrow?
"Not I," said the Golden Wheat,
"I would if I could but I cannot I know,
I need all my grain to prosper and grow."

Who will love a little Sparrow?
Will no one write her eulogy?
"I will," said the Earth,
"For all I've created returns unto me,
From dust were ye made and dust ye shall be."
